MpegTV licenses its technology to software developers and publishers, Internet digital music distributors, game makers, video and audio chip manufacturers, Operating System vendors, Video CD publishers, system integrators and VARs, PC manufacturers and resellers, governmental agencies etc.

The founders, Tristan Savatier and Gilles Boccon-Gibod, are two highly experienced software engineers.
- Tristan Savatier worked for 13 years for Thomson Consumer Electronics, as senior R&D software engineer. He has been an active member of the MPEG committee for 6 years, mostly involved in the development of the MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 Video standards. He created the MPEG.ORG website. He is also the main architect of two popular software: mtv and PocketTV. Tristan is also a photographer (visit his on-line Fine-Art Photo Gallery) and an avid Urban Explorer.
- Gilles Boccon-Gibod was one of the lead software architect of OpenTV, an Interactive Television system. Gilles also works with InterTrust Technologies and is involved with Axiomatic. Gilles is also the guy behind the Xaudio MP3 decoding engine.
